Hey ya'll, Marc Alan Fishman here to deliver as I promised... a weekly hello and how do you do. Or more to the point... a production update on our forthcoming book: Disposable Razors #1.

Well, I regret to inform you, our adoring fans (all 12 of you?) that this week was not one of great movement forward for the book. But, work was done, and allow me to report on it! Over New Years, we partied at the secret Unshaven Comics Lair (Matt's house.) and I was shown a handful of penciled and inked pages for Ironside. We have about 11 pages left in total that needed to be penciled, inked, scanned, and flatted. So, consider 5 of those to be ready for scanning. Hooray! On the writing homefront, Kyle delivered... well... nothing to me as far as I know. I specifically asked for the script of Chasing Daylight, pages 1-10. I got that on my desk shortly before the Christmas break, to start looking at. While Unshaven Comics is a democratic studio, I am the fascist editor when it comes to the final words that hit the page. Getting a sneak peak in at Kyle's most current draft certainly helps. Once his script is all complete, he'll be printing it out for me to look over as a whole. We'll report more on that later. In my little area, well, I admit it: I didn't do squat. I made some adjustments to Kyle's first page on Chasing Daylight... and that's about it! What else was I doing? Shopping for a house, and doing some other important things. Or I played a ton of Tetris. I forget.

Thursday (NYE) Unshaven Comics DID do some productive work, meeting with an industry legend for lunch. We're not at liberty to disclose who we wined and dined with, but suffice to say, it hopefully led to good things in our future. As we know more? You'll know more.

We hope all of you had a great New Years! This week seems to be the one where we as a populace all put our noses back down, and get our butts back in working mode. Well, the same holds true for Unshaven Comics. Tune in next week for the next update!

Good afternoon Stand-Uppers... Tis I, Marc Alan Fishman here, to make great proclamations for 2010. 2009 was a year of big changes for the Unshaven Comics' Crew. In 2008, we'd published "The March: Crossing Bridges in America". It was a momentous occasion for us. To see a finished, published work on the shelf of a store (a great one in fact, like Stand-Up, as well as online, and a few other choice locations...) meant a great deal to us as creators. With the book in stores, we took some well deserved time off, and then came back to the board with a new focus: Time for Unshaven Comics to be Unshaven Comics.

And thus in the latter half of 2008 we began scripting and designing our first "graphic novel" completely by ourselves. It would be written by us, drawn by us in our own style, and delivered to the masses with the idea that it'd be the first step to make us some real concrete "fans". And so, we got to work. Slowly. Very Slowly. Too Slowly. :)

Any other creators out there will contest that the true test of those who want to be called an "Artist" is to COMPLETE work. You're not a musician if you play in your basement for YouTubers. You're not a Comic Book Studio if you don't put books in the hands of the fans. So, noses to the grindstone, we put out a sneak preview of the book on Free Comic Book Day. We met many of you (again) at the store, and stood once again, ready to "knock the book out, and get it out there."

And yet again, life got in the way. In the summer, Matt (Penciler, Inker, Beer Drinker) got a house with his fiance, and then in late September married his bride-to-be, Amy. And not 6 weeks later, I myself (Digital Artist, Writer, Beard Enthusiast) married Kathy, We sit here today, one inch closer to getting a house ourself. And our third cohort Kyle? Well he's found himself a lovely lady as well. So often as it happens, it would seem between weddings, houses, day jobs, and the pursuit of happiness just plain got in the way of good old fashioned working.

So here I sit, on Christmas day, with nothing more to do than to stand up (pun intended) and proclaim to you all who read this... Unshaven Comics is on it's way. "Disposable Razors" volume 1... will be done, mark my words, in the coming months. I'll give no end date. It's not prudent. I will promise you this: This blog (at least my portion of it) will be dedicated to updating you weekly on our progress. This way, I feel the twinge of guilt when I don't work. Matt and Kyle too. :) So... where are we? Well... As you may or may not know Disposable Razors is a compilation of 2 short stories (Iron Side: Living Will, and Chasing Daylight), weaved together by a third (The White). As it stands, the While is 90% complete. We are noodling with the idea of adding a few pages. Iron Side presently has (as I check my files) 9 completed color pages. We have 11-13 more to go. Chasing Daylight has 17 completed color pages. Only 4 to go! Once pages are completely colored, they will be lettered, and laid out. And then? Bound, printed, and sold to you, we hope, faithful reader.

So, the challenge is there. I'll update you every week with our progress. Even if that progress is as silly as "Kyle chewed gum this week. Matt had a nice beer." But, mark our words. We will finish this book, and we'll start right up on the next. We're Unshaven Comics.... And we will make it. We're not sure what "it" is yet... But we'll figure that out, and get back to you.

Merry Christmas!
