The Short of It:
1. Wednesday Comics!
2. New This Wednesday
1. As big of a deal as Captain America: Reborn is, I must admit I am
much more excited about THIS week's big new launch: DC's Wednesday
Comics. Wednesday Comics is a 12-issue weekly miniseries that aims to
duplicate the feel of the Sunday funny pages; each issue folds out to
a 28" x 20" monstrosity of comics goodness! Every issue features 16
one-page full-color stories from top creators working on top
characters, like Azzarello and Risso on Batman, Neil Gaiman and Mike
Allred on Metamorpho, Hawkman by Kyle Baker, and more! Each of these
teams will follow their characters from week to week so come October
you'll have 16 complete stories in your collection. I think this is a
pretty bold experiment on DC's part, and I really hope it succeeds.
Make sure to check out Wednesday Comics when you stop in the shop this
week... you won't be dissapointed!
PS - if you aren't totally sold on this concept yet, tomorrow's
edition of USA Today (which NEVER has comics) will be running the
first Superman installment (by John Arcudi and Lee Bermejo), so you
can see what Wednesday Comics is all about there for free.
