Welcome to the first news update of the new year! I hope everyone's holiday season was sufficiently excellent.
1. Before we get to the news, I'd like to point out that if you go to our website to read our weekly update, most items in the "new this week" section now link to a page of information about themselves! So if, for instance, you want to see what Siege #1 is all about, you can click on "Siege #1" below to learn more! Eventually this feature may be implemented into the email as well, but it's already set up on our website (www.stand-upcomics.com). (Please note: certain comic companies do not index their titles on their website, so there may be a few books we cannot link to. Of course you can always ask us if you want to know more about any title!)
2. (Comic) Book Club enters its triumphant second year with this month's selection, Steve Darnall and Alex Ross' Vertigo miniseries Uncle Sam. More info on this title is available on the website's (Comic) Book Club section as well as in the store (and if you missed my blog about 2009's CBC, go to the website and give it a read!).
3. If you check out the DC Comics shipping list below you might see a few titles that haven't been on the racks in awhile. That's because thanks to Blackest Night, it's not just dead characters that are returning... it's dead series too! This month will see the return of a eight canceled series getting new last issues, including Power of Shazam, Catwoman, Suicide Squad, the Question, Phantom Stranger, Weird Western Tales, Atom and Hawkman, and Starman. Some of these books will even be created by their classic writers and artists! Don't miss this neat chance to revive a bit of DC history, if only for a month.
