The Short of It:
1. May 2010 (Comic) Book Club
2. Stand-Up @ Stand-Up tonight!
3. FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!
4. New This Wednesday
1. Thanks to everyone who came out for a great discussion of CC Colbert and Tanitoc's graphic novel "Booth" last Sunday. It turned out to be a really thought-provoking meeting about historical fiction in the graphic novel medium. Next month's book should expand on that topic with an interesting twist, as we cover Greg Pak and Carmine De Giandomenico's X-Men: Magneto Testament, the first official fully fleshed-out telling of Magneto's origin. It's gonna be a good time, and remember you get 10% off the book of the month in the shop!
2. Quick reminder: another installment of our hilarious comedy series Stand-Up @Stand-Up is TONIGHT at 8:00 PM. $5 gets you six comics -- you can't beat that. You'd truly be amazed at the caliber of comedian we can pull here in Lansing, so if you're not doing anything tonight check it out! For more info on the show go to www.facebook.com/standupatstandup or www.stand-upcomics.com/live.
3. And now the big news: as you probably know this Saturday is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY. We have a huge selection of free books (over 20) to give away all day, as well as some excellent in-store specials and creator signings. Here's a few things you can look forward to:
- FREE COMICS (of course)
- SALES: 10% off almost ALL MERCHANDISE in the store and a $5 action figure table
- CREATOR APPEARANCES: our buddies in Unshaven Comics have just released a new book and they'll be selling, signing and sketching all day!
-EXTENDED HOURS: Stand-Up Comics will open at 10:00 AM Saturday and stay open to our usual 6:00 PM. Come hang out all day -- get in early to get your books and stay to watch the Good Neighbor Day Parade at 2!
I'll send out a Free Comic Book Day mailer on Friday with even more details on the event and the books you can snag for free, but trust me -- you're gonna want to be here Saturday.
